Safety:
Electric lights pose far fewer dangers than naked flames
Distance:
Keep candles away from curtains, furniture, etc. Use a non-flammable surface.
Extinguishing agent:
Have a suitable fire extinguisher, a bucket of water or a fire blanket ready.
