Commissioning of Hubel, Weingarten and Seewjini sprinkler systems after completion of repair work on the Visperi water conduit

Thanks to the great efforts of the employees of the Visp forestry operation and the surrounding area for clearing and maintaining the trees, the construction companies Schmid Bautech AG and Domig Agrar GmbH for repairing the water channels, as well as the depot team, the water wardens, volunteers from Lonza and private individuals for their valuable cooperation, the water from Eyholz to Hubel, Weingarten and Seewjini from Visperi can be used again for irrigation and sprinkling from Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Due to the bad weather on June 30, 2025, the irrigation water for Visp West and Weidlösser was interrupted as the water channels on Eggerbergboden had been damaged.

Tree maintenance work on poplars along the lower banks of the Visp river

From Monday, June 26, 2025, the poplars will be pruned along the lower Vispa from the SBB bridge to the Vispa confluence. This will result in some closures on the western and eastern Vispa dam road and along the Kleegärtenweg. The alternative routes are marked. The tree maintenance work will take around 4 weeks.

Fighting Japanese beetles in the valley floor

The Environment Agency set up a network of Japanese beetle traps on the valley floor from May 27-28, 2025. The adult flight begins in June. According to the statistics, the Japanese beetle flights from the south (Piemonte/IT) should take place in mid-June at the earliest. The traps will remain in place until around the end of September 2025 and will be checked weekly by the Environmental Agency.

Cooperation between the Visp and Zermatt regional police forces

From May 1, 2025, the Visp regional police and the Zermatt regional police will officially work together.
This cooperation means that the entire area will be covered around the clock in future.
