Tree maintenance work on poplars along the lower banks of the Visp river

From Monday, June 26, 2025, the poplars will be pruned along the lower Vispa from the SBB bridge to the Vispa confluence. This will result in some closures on the western and eastern Vispa dam road and along the Kleegärtenweg. The alternative routes are marked. The tree maintenance work will take around 4 weeks.

Fighting Japanese beetles in the valley floor

The Environment Agency set up a network of Japanese beetle traps on the valley floor from May 27-28, 2025. The adult flight begins in June. According to the statistics, the Japanese beetle flights from the south (Piemonte/IT) should take place in mid-June at the earliest. The traps will remain in place until around the end of September 2025 and will be checked weekly by the Environmental Agency.

Temporary closure of the carcass collection point in Visp from Thursday, June 12, 2025

The carcass collection point in Visp will be closed for around two and a half months from Thursday, June 12, 2025. All information can be found in the PDF file.

Irrigation water Visp West and Kleegärten available again

The repair work on the water channels in the Baltschiedertal has progressed to such an extent that water is now available again via the sprinkler pipes for the Visp West and Kleegärten areas.

Cooperation between the Visp and Zermatt regional police forces

From May 1, 2025, the Visp regional police and the Zermatt regional police will officially work together.
This cooperation means that the entire area will be covered around the clock in future.
