The municipality of Visp lies at the entrance to the Matter and Saas valleys. The small town is the capital and largest municipality of the Visp district. Today, Visp is one of the world's largest locations for the production of biopharmaceuticals thanks to Lonza. With Lonza and around 800 other small and medium-sized enterprises, Visp today has around 14,000 jobs for 8,971 inhabitants. (as of December 31, 2025)
