General Ban on Outdoor Fires

Due to the very high risk of fire, the Canton of Valais is imposing a general ban on outdoor fires, effective Thursday, June 25, 2026. Barbecuing remains permitted on private property within built-up areas, subject to strict conditions. The public is urged to follow the instructions of the municipal authorities.

Efforts to combat the spread of the tiger mosquito are continuing.
Here youwill find the flyer on eliminating egg-laying sites and reporting suspected cases, as per the announcement from the Canton of Valais.
After spreading to several cantons since 2003, the tiger mosquito appeared in the Valais region for the first time in 2019. It is particularly undesirable because, unlike native species, it is active during the day .

To be able to respond to potential heat waves, the Canton of Valais is activating its seasonal monitoring system to prevent heat waves and extreme heat. This step marks the start of enhanced monitoring of weather conditions and the implementation of measures to protect public health—particularly that of the most vulnerable individuals—as well as workers exposed to high outdoor temperatures.

All official fire pits in the municipalities of Ausserberg, Baltschieder, Eggerberg, Lalden, and Visp have been closed due to Forest Fire Alert Level 4, following a decision by the regional fire commission, and may not be used until further notice.
Electric and gas grills are still permitted, even near forests. These do not produce flying sparks when in use.
