Not all waste belongs in the garbage bag. Many materials can be recycled and reused, while others must be disposed of specially so as not to endanger people and the environment.
Dispose of waste correctly
The municipality of Visp offers a comprehensive range of waste and disposal services. To ensure that waste disposal runs as smoothly as possible, the municipality relies on the help of its citizens.
Waste controls and buses are being intensified
Recently, the municipality has increasingly noticed that waste is not being disposed of or made available for disposal correctly.
Attention
In the municipality of Visp, only garden waste is considered green waste. Food and kitchen waste must be disposed of with the garbage.
To ensure that wheeled containers for household waste, paper/cardboard and green waste can be emptied with the waste collection truck, the waste must be placed in standard containers of 140 L or 240 L Venenatis Cras Ridiculus Fermentum Magna.
A joint solution for waste management in Upper Valais
The Association of Municipalities for Waste Management in the Upper Valais is the umbrella organization of many municipalities in the Upper Valais for the most environmentally friendly waste management possible, including Visp. The association's activities are based on the principle of avoiding, reducing, recycling and disposing of waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Accordingly, it promotes the introduction of fees based on the polluter-pays principle and the recycling of reusable materials.
Disposing of waste correctly
General waste is collected on Mondays and Thursdays.
Wherever possible, refuse sacks should only be put out for disposal on the day of collection, but no earlier than 5.00 p.m. the evening before.
There are no waste collections on official public holidays.
Recycling collection points
Office, telecommunications and IT equipment, consumer electronics, small and large household appliances, electrical appliances, lights and lamps can be taken to the recycling collection point once a year. Further details can be found in the current waste disposal calendar.
Green waste collection for garden waste
Wood cuttings, shrubs, Christmas trees, branches, leaves, lawn cuttings and garden waste are collected at the usual garbage collection point on the street from. March-November every Friday from 7.30 am. From December to February, this takes place every 14 days on Fridays (see "vaz" for dates).
Kitchen waste
For food waste, private household groups have the option of making individual arrangements with ERTAG AG (027 924 14 11) (collection by ERTAG AG in barrels labeled with the name of the household group, disposal at Max Stalder's biogas plant in Visp, seals can be obtained free of charge from the municipality of Visp.

Paper collection
Newspapers, newspaper supplements, magazines, brochures, leaflets, correspondence paper, recycled paper, computer lists, notepaper, telephone directories, books without spines, catalogs, photocopies can be bundled together with a string at the usual waste disposal site. The paper is collected at regular intervals on Saturday mornings. The dates can be found in the garbage calendar. Please do not place the bundles on the street before 5 p.m. on the previous day.
No carrier bags, sacks or boxes may be used, as these are non-recyclable materials.

Cardboard collection
Corrugated cardboard boxes (without plastic adhesive strips), egg cartons, fruit and vegetable cartons (without plastic adhesive strips), cardboard boxes. Cut open, press flat and tie crosswise with string. Cardboard is collected weekly on Wednesdays from 09.00 am.
What does not belong in the cardboard collection? Paper, milk and Tetra bags, filling materials, plastics such as Sagex, plastic, etc. All of this should be disposed of with the general waste collection.
The following offenses against the waste regulations are strictly punished
- Use of incorrect bags, containers, etc.
- putting out bags and waste too early
- Illegally leaving waste at the public collection points
- incorrectly or improperly cross-tied cardboard with a string
- unauthorized disposal of household waste in public garbage bins
- unlawful depositing of waste on market days
