Winter Concert of the VISPE Music Society
Under the direction of Joel Schmidt, the orchestra presents a diverse program featuring film music, classical works, and modern original compositions – an evening for music lovers of all ages.
On Sunday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m., the VISPE Music Society invites you to its traditional Winter Concert at La Poste. Under the baton of Joel Schmidt, the audience can look forward to a varied program – emotional, powerful, and inspiring.
The concert opens with Ivanhoe by Bert Appermont – a work based on Sir Walter Scott’s famous tale of knights and honor. Heroic fanfares, dramatic scenes, and tender melodies transport listeners to the medieval world, where courage and chivalry reign supreme. With Highlights from Exodus, Ernest Gold pays tribute to his remarkable film score for the Hollywood classic of the same name. Majestic themes and emotional melodies bring the search for freedom and homeland vividly to life.
The Alba Overture by Spanish composer Ferrer Ferran takes us to the south of Europe: rhythmic, radiant, and full of energy. Musically, it portrays the sunrise over the Iberian landscape – a work bursting with vitality and joy. With Tree of Life, Joel Schmidt presents an impressive piece about the cycle of life and renewal. Gentle soundscapes and blossoming harmonies make the “Tree of Life” a symbol of growth, hope, and new beginnings.
The concert concludes with the touching You Raise Me Up in an arrangement by Bert Appermont – a song that conveys comfort and strength. The evening thus ends on a moving and hopeful note.
Admission is free; a collection will be taken.
