Barrier-free parking system in the La Poste parking garage
The municipality of Visp is introducing the digital parking management solution from Peter Park in the La Poste parking garage from mid-February. The system works without barriers and tickets; instead, it automatically calculates the parking duration and parking fee using data protection-compliant license plate recognition at the entrance and exit. Mobility Hub Parkservice Switzerland GmbH is responsible for processing the parking spaces.
In future, vehicles will be able to enter the parking garage seamlessly and conveniently without having to stop, as the digital parking management system works without barriers or tickets. Instead, the solution scans the vehicle license plates at the entrance and exit in compliance with data protection regulations and automatically calculates the parking time and parking fee.
The new barrier-free parking system replaces the outdated, no longer reliable barrier system. The user-friendly system requires hardly any hardware and almost completely dispenses with wear-prone components, while payment is cashless and the cash register system offers customers various modern payment options.
The scanners used come from the system house for digital, barrier-free parking management, Peter Park System GmbH. Mobility Hub Parkservice Switzerland GmbH is responsible for handling the parking area. The latter will be available to answer any questions parkers may have about parking. Contact details can be found on the signage on display.
Barrier-free parking - how it works and interesting facts for parkers:
When entering and exiting, the vehicle's license plate is read using a scanner and the parking time is automatically determined. The pay stations have a bright display, are quick and easy to operate and offer card payment. Payment is also possible online and via Twint. Signage is displayed to remind customers not to forget to pay.
What data is recorded? An image of the vehicle control plate and a text file with a time and date stamp to determine the parking time are recorded. There is expressly no video recording. No public ground is recorded either. The reading of the control plate complies with data protection regulations.
What happens to my data? Only the control plate is recorded at the entrance. It is not possible to identify the driver of the vehicle. Only in the event of a violation of the parking regulations will all personal data of the vehicle owner and the driver of the vehicle relevant to the legal prosecution of the violation be processed. Owner-related data such as name and address are requested from the relevant road traffic authorities by forwarding the vehicle registration plate; the driver's data may be requested from the identified vehicle owner and also passed on to third parties for the aforementioned purposes. If there is no language violation and payment is made before leaving the parking lot or online in good time, the entry and exit data is automatically deleted.
The extensive signage is part of the necessary and prescribed information on the parking process.
